ABOUT THE TN HILL FAMILY REUNION MEMBERS
This Hill family is the descendants of Robert Hill Sr. and Ida Dodd Hill of Madison, County, Tennessee. To this union ten children were born. The family lived in both the Madison and Hardeman County Tennessee areas. Robert and Ida were share-croppers who loved hard work and a strong family foundation. Work around the Hill household started at sun up and ended at sun down. Ida was seen daily producing enough food to feed a small community. She was best known in our family for making those famous Southern Tea-Cakes. The Hill household had no running water or indoor toilets. They had a well in which they would draw water via a “sleeve”. Ida cooked her delicious meals on a wood burning stove. The couple had one black and white TV and one radio. Robert was a big fan of radio baseball games and the TV show “The Highway Patrol” starring Broderick Crawford. Robert’s newsman of the day was Walter Cronkite.
Robert and Ida were members of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in the Medon, Tennessee area. Robert Died on December 5th, 1972 and Ida died in October 1973. Both of them are buried in the ST. Paul Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Medon, Tennessee.
